Who Sang For Deborah Kerr In An Affair To Remember: “An Affair to Remember (Our Love Affair)” is a 1957 love ballad written by Harry Warren for the film An Affair to Remember. It was released as the title track of the film. Leo McCarey and Harold Adamson wrote the lyrics for this song.

The song is first performed by Vic Damone during the film’s opening titles, and subsequently by Deborah Kerr’s character, Terry McKay, who is a former nightclub singer who now works as a music teacher. In the film The King and I, Kerr’s singing was dubbed by Marni Nixon, who had previously dubbed for Kerr in the film The King and I.

Plot

Nickie Ferrante, a well-known playboy, and artist, meets Terry McKay on the transatlantic ocean liner Template:SS as it sails from Europe to New York. Each is linked to another. During their time on the ship, they meet people who they didn’t expect to meet and form a friendship. Terry goes with Nickie to visit his grandmother in Villefranche-sur-Mer, on the Mediterranean coast.

She sees Nickie in a new way, and they fall in love. Nickie tells them that he has a natural talent for painting, but he gave it up because he was too critical of his own work to keep going. In New York City, they promise to meet again six months later at the Empire State Building, if they have ended their relationships and found new jobs.

Terry is hit by a car as she crosses the street on the day they met. She was so excited to get to the Empire State Building that she didn’t notice. She is taken to the hospital, where she is in a very bad way. Nickie, who is waiting for her at the top of the building’s observation deck, doesn’t know about the disaster. After a long time, he finally admits at midnight that she won’t show up because he feels she rejected him.

Terry, who is now unable to walk because of the accident, doesn’t want Nickie to know that she can’t. Instead of that, she gets a job as a music teacher. As a painter, Nickie has been working hard to improve his skills. He has had his work shown at the gallery of an old friend who owns it. When she goes to the ballet six months after the accident, she runs into Nickie and his ex-fiancee. She is also there with her ex-boyfriend, and they run into each other. Nickie doesn’t know what’s going on because she’s sitting down. As he passes her, he says hello.

To make a surprise Christmas Eve visit, Nickie finds out where Terry lives. Terry doesn’t move the couch on which she is sitting, even though he leads the conversation in a way that makes her have to explain her behavior, but he doesn’t. They first met when he was working on the painting he was working on now. It was recently given away at the art shop, and the woman who had been admiring it but didn’t have the money to buy it got it. In the next sentence, he will say that the woman used a wheelchair.

Then, he stops because he is concerned about Terry’s immobility on the couch. He walks into her room and sees his picture on the wall, as well as a wheelchair that looks like it isn’t there. He now knows why she didn’t show up for their meeting. This is how the movie ends: The two are in a loving embrace, and both know that their love is still there. In the end, Terry says, “If you paint, I can walk; everything is possible, don’t you think?”

Legacy

This movie was the inspiration for the 1965 Bollywood movie Bheegi Raat, which had Ashok Kumar, Meena Kumari, and Pradeep Kumar in the cast.

It was partly inspired by An Affair to Remember, especially the ending. Sleepless in Seattle was directed by Nora Ephron and stars Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan. Everywhere in the movie, there are references to, snippets from, and the theme music from the previous film.

Love Affair, which was renamed in 1994, stars Warren Beatty, Annette Bening, and Katharine Hepburn in a small but important role. It was Katharine Hepburn’s last movie appearance.
An Indian movie called Mann, which was made in 1999, was almost an exact copy of this movie. Aamir Khan and Manisha Koirala were in it.

An over-the-top view of The Pierre Hotel was rented for Grey Gardens, a 2009 HBO movie. This movie was based on the Pierre Hotel.

The 1980 Bollywood film Ek Baar Kaho’s climax was influenced by the film’s climax, which was made in 1980.
You can’t “Affair to Remember Me!” in Gossip Girl’s third season. In this episode, Chuck and Blair decide to get back together and plan to meet on top of the Empire State Building at 7:01 pm, just like in the movie. When Blair is on her way to meet Chuck, her maid gives birth. As a result, their “last break-up” happens.
